URLyBird is a broker of discount hotel rooms. They sell accommodations for business and pleasure travelers at short notice, helping hotels to fill rooms that would otherwise be left empty. They take bookings only within 48 hours of the start of room occupancy. This application, developed in Java technology system, replaces an aging custom-written application that was drawing heavy criticism from the CSRs. But to comply with the requirement, it is designed to use the old data file that contains the essential information for the company.
The newly developed application, allows the CSRs to generate a list of accommodations that match a customer's criteria, enter or cancel a booking for the customer as primary functions. The application also includes some features, like adding a new Hotel into the data file or deleting an existing hotel on request. These features have been viewed as enhancements for the future needs.
